Nick Davy
Nick’s first opportunity to roadtest his new M-Audio DJ controller, Torq Xponent, came at the legendary terrace at Space, on the same night as Sasha, James Zabiela and Lottie.

Nick Davy has been in love with electronic music for over a decade, but it wasn’t until 1999 that he first decided to pick up the headphones and cue up that first record. His love of the music played by the DJs at such nights as Feel and Cream finally proved too much not to want to be a part of.

8 years later, and Nick can boast a strong resume, having played with such DJs as Green Velvet, Jon Carter, Adam Freeland, Phil Kieran and Fergie to name just a few. Residencies at Firefly and the legendary Bomb in Nottingham, have led to a number of gigs throughout UK, including Urban Gorilla in Sheffield, as well as international events in Italy and Ukraine.

In 2004, Nick fancied a different musical challenge and decided to join the band Psylence as turntablist and keyboard player. A year later and the band released an album with Copro records and toured the UK extensively to promote its release.
.
Nick recently quit the band to focus entirely on his DJing career, a move which was largely sparked by the release of M Audio’s Torq:

“Once I’d realised that Torq could allow me to pretty much do what I’d always wanted to do, I knew I had to change my whole outlook on DJing.”

Since converting to the digital revolution, Nick has spent all of his spare time rebuilding his music collection with the aim of creating a distinctive flavour to his sets. Feeling confident that he was in a position to create something unique, Nick decided to enter DJ Mag’s competition to win a set at Space in Ibiza:

“Amongst tons of brilliant mixes, Nick Davy’s selection shone through like a diamond in the rough. With a perfectly pitched blend of upbeat grooves, tinged with techno, Nick’s track selection was peerless” – DJ Mag.

Nick’s first opportunity to roadtest both his new music and M-Audio's new DJ-controller, Xponent, came at the legendary terrace at Space, on the same night as Sasha, James Zabiella and Lottie. The set was so well received that the manager of the club invited Nick back to play again in the near future.

With support from M-Audio and an increasing number of invitations to play in various clubs throughout the UK and abroad, the future is looking bright for Nick.

As well as Torq Xponent, Nick uses an Oxygen 8 keyboard and Ableton Live 6.
